Culturally Relevant Reading—Important yet Under Siege

Culturally Relevant Reading—Important yet Under Siege In-Person

Join us for a panel discussion on Culturally Relevant Reading—Important yet Under Siege.  Selecting books that reflect and celebrate the diversity of students' backgrounds, cultures, and experiences is a common educational practice, with documented benefits.  Our panelists will discuss current attacks on such books (Shireen Campbell, English and Educational Studies), the benefits of culturally relevant content for students (Tracy Bailey, Educational Studies, Maddie Wagler, ’26), and research on relevance and literacy (Rebeca Fernandez).
